HVCCA announces the upcoming exhibition “After the Fall.”

HVCCA announces the upcoming exhibition “After the Fall.”

HVCCA is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition, After the Fall- Emerging Artists from East and Central Europe.
opening Sunday, September 19, 2010, at 3 pm followed by a round table discussion with the participating artists at 5 pm. Some of the most impressive new art today, especially in painting and video, is coming from Eastern and Central Europe’s former communist countries. After the Fall attempts to understand how this art differs from art in the West and, more importantly, why artists from this region are making such compelling work at this moment.

Countries included in After the Fall are Croatia (Elvis Krstulovic, Marin Majic, Goran Skofic, Josip Tiric, Zlatan Vehabovic) Czech Republic (Josef Bolf, Daniel Pitin), Hungary (ZsoltBodoni, Alexander Tinei, Attila Szucs), Latvia (Janis Avotins), Romania (Leonardo Silaghi, Marius Bercea, Adrian Ghenie, Ion Grigorescu, Serban Savu, Ciprian Muresan) and Slovenia(Matija Brumen). This is a heterogeneous political, social, cultural and religious region, each having evolved differently after the fall of their governmental systems.

For After the Fall, founders of HVCCA, Marc and Livia Straus, visited over 1,500 artists’ studios, galleries, art schools, alternative spaces, and museums.

The Department of Senior Programs helps grandparents raising grandchildren

The Department of Senior Programs helps grandparents raising grandchildren

There are 4,740 grandparents in Westchester alone who are responsible for raising their grandchild or grandchildren.  For these seniors it is not always easy to make ends meet.  Many of these grandparents do not receive subsidies and have no choice but to leave retirement to provide for their grandchildren.

September is just around the corner, and they will have to a way to pay for back-to-school supplies such as new notebooks, pens and backpacks.

This is why the Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS) is helping to collect donations to make the start of school a little easier.  Just $20 or $25 to the Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services will go a long way to ease a family’s burden.

Let’s make this September a little easier for these grandparents. Please send your tax-deductible contribution to the attention of Corina De Leon, DSPS’ program administrator of the Grandparents Coalition at the Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services, 9 S. First Ave., 10th floor, Mount Vernon, N.Y. 10550-3414.

For more information call (914) 813-6393.

Personalized Health Care

Personalized Health Care

Dr. Harlan Weinberg – www.MyDoctor1on1.com – 845-721-0545

America’s complex health care system has transformed the very personal doctor – patient relationship of patient care into an assembly line of medical care delivery.  Thus, in 2002, a new and different alternative to the current health care system was born.  Concierge or retainer – based medicine programs seek to restore the doctor – patient relationship based on trust, quality, access, time and education.

Your personal physician from Personalized Care will carry a smaller patient practice.  Patients are treated by their own physician, who will have the time to develop the necessary doctor – patient relationship in our new world of patient – centered care.  This environment will help to promote better health and wellness guidelines, while eliminating rushed and fragmented care, thus helping to eliminate medical care oversights and errors.

This new health care delivery atmosphere will provide a dedicated and experienced medical professional, who will have the time and compassion to treat their patients without the limitations of patient referrals, prior authorizations, pre-certifications…

Allow your medical professional to become your health advocate for all aspects of your health care.  Your medical care with Personalized Care will assure to you and your family, a new level of access to your physician and care.

Personalized Care will charge a fixed annual fee for their services which are not covered by your insurance or Medicare.  You must retain your health insurance to cover the costs of medical specialists, hospitalization and other services not provided by Personalized Care.  The need for additional care may arise and if so, your physician from Personalized Care will act as your health advocate to help you navigate the complex medical system.  We will always be available to help you to make all of the necessary health connections for your care.

Your will always have access to your own physician, 365 days per year and 24 / 7, as necessary.  You will have access to your physician’s personal cell phone number, supported by email, text messaging, live answering service plus other electronic communications. Appointments will be available either same day or the following day, to allow for convenient patient care.

The health benefits of concierge medicine can be summed up in a single word, “Time,” for patient-centered care.  There will be time for the doctor to listen to the patient and for the patient to listen and ask questions of their physician.  The new health focus will be for greater participation, prevention, predictive measures and proactive interventions.  Your concierge physician is the modern-day, Marcus Welby, MD, who will be your patient-centered, modern-day professional, with the time and skills to help you when you need it most.
